At the edge of Ciran ZR83, a lone scout stands watch. Not long after his post, one of their ships return, but not in the condition expected. Stricken by confusion of what's going on, the scout gets hit by the ship as it comes barreling down into the ground. If the ship returned in this state, what is to follow?
Process
We put the central focus at the location of the lone scout, moving the camera through different framed perspectives in the scene to drive a sense of motion during the narrative.
Behind the scenes
We used Unreal as the real-time 3D engine to sequence the series of shots including the character animation. We used Houdini to create smoke sims and quickly build out a terrain backdrop. Blender was used for the traditional modeling parts and Davinici Resolve was used to apply the final color grading.
