Rubix Part 3: Sentry

In the small arctic town of S’oat, an age-old ritual preserves the tepid relationship between man, machine, and monster allowing all to live in peace. Although the Sentry helps to maintain order, who is the Sentry actually protecting?

 

 
 

Process

As we follow the lone laborer making the trek towards the Sentry, the somber color palette paired with the overall grim mood sets the stage for the final reveal at the end.

 
 

Behind the scenes

We used Houdini to dynamically destruct objects within the scene, smoke sims, and quickly build out a terrain backdrop. Cinema4D was used for both the animations and traditional modeling parts, with Davinici Resolve to apply the final color grading.
